Intel

For parallel MIP the GPU based solutions such as http://www.nvidia.com/object/tesla-supercomputing-solutions.html are not very useful (although for some specialized applications GPU based optimization algorithms have been developed). Now Intel has an alternative:

The 60 cores sound attractive, but the limited amount of memory (8GB) may be a problem for big MIPs.

  1. The clock speed is 1.053 GHz, which is slower than any current laptop, let alone a workstation or server. So simplex will be slow. Nevertheless, it's an interesting idea for cases where you can benefit from lots of parallel computing.
